Khalsa College observes Women’s Day







Chandigarh March 5, 2015: Khalsa College of Technology and Business Studies (Amritsar), Mohali organised a function to commemorate International Women’s Day. With a message of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ the students were made aware of the importance of International Women Day.

They were told how International Women Day first emerged from the activities of labour movements at the turn of twentieth century in North America and across Europe. But the day has assumed a global dimension for women in developed and developing countries alike.

Mrs Poonam Sharma, Mayor, Chandigarh Municipal Corporation graced the occasion as chief Guest and adjudged the students who had participated in competitions like collage making, poster making, slogan writing, Kite decoration, T-Shirt painting, Rangoli etc on the theme ‘ Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’.


In her address to the students said that gender equality is very important for a healthy society. She also added that the milestone to be reached is the basic information for a girl child in every family education will during awareness among the society which will further result in overall development of nation and its community.



Dr Harish Kumari, college principal said that this is the time to uphold women’s achievements, recognise challenges and focus greater attention on women’s rights and gender equality to mobilize all people to do their.
