92.7 BIG FM and SPARK PUNJABI promote Punjabi
folk art through BIG BOLI STAR
India’s No. 1 FM Network and the Radio Broadcaster of the year at the Golden Mikes, 92.7 BIG FM, and Spark Punjabi, the international Punjabi TV Channel announced that Shabnampreet Kaur and Avtar Singh had been adjudged the winners of the Chandigarh auditions of the ‘Big Boli Star” talent hunt contest held today at Arts College Auditorium. Over 75 contestants participated in the auditions, including 5 students of the Institute for the Blind, Sector 26, Chandigarh. The judges were Hardeep Singh, Jaspreet Singh, Channi Singh and Raj Buter of the band Desi Routes
The aim of the talent hunt contest is to promote Punjabi Boliyaan, a traditional Punjabi folk art. BIG Boli Star is a hunt for a 92.7 BIG FM listener who can sing the best Boliyaan. Commenting on this initiative, a company spokesperson said “Punjab is very rich in traditional art forms and Boliyaan have been passed down orally from generation to generation. As a responsible radio network, 92.7 BIG FM is ensuring that this traditional art continues to flourish, both in the rural and urban areas of Punjab. The BIG Boli Star talent hunt is creating a new wave of enthusiasm for traditional Punjabi culture as well as bringing new talent to the forefront.”
Shabnampreet Kaur and Avtar Singh will now join the shortlisted contestants from the auditions held in Amritsar (Savroop & Ramneek ), Jalandhar (Harpreet Kang & Harpreet Hans), Patiala (Rajwinder Singh & Satbir Kaur), Ludhiana (Harpret Kumar & Komalpreet Kaur) and Jammu (Anamika Thakur & Rakesh Deol) and vie for the BIG Boli Star title at a spectacular finale to be held in Chandigarh, which will be telecast on Spark Punjabi. The show, which will be hosted by 92.7 BIG FM RJ, Dhanveer, will be judged by the famous folk singers Gurmeet Bawa and Lachi Bawa.
