NSS Camp at Khalsa College concludes
Week-long camp carried out social service activities
Mohali, December 27, 2013:: Week-long NSS camp today concluded at Khalsa College in Phase 3A here. The NSS volunteers were involved in various social activities in which they participated with great enthusiasm. Also during the celebrations those students who had excelled in various disciplines were given commendation certificates.
The college Principal Dr Harish Kumari while giving the information said the camp had started on December 20. She said the camp took off in the presence of Dr Baldev Singh, retired professor of government and Mohali College Commerce department Prof Ashwani Kumar congratulated the volunteers and informed them about the importance of the camp.
The NSS volunteers visited the village Mataur and carried out a survey on women literacy. They also carried out an awareness campaign with women telling them about the importance of education and also heard their grievances.
The volunteers also participated in pot making competition in which the first three winners were given commendation certificates. An awareness programme on traffic rules was also a part of the camp by the Traffic Education Cell.
Director Health Punjab Dr Joginder Singh spoke on general health issues during the camp. The students during Shahidi Jor Mela highlighted the contribution of Guru Gobind Singh Ji in the Sikh religion.
Taranjeet Singh enthralled the audience with patriotic songs on the concluding day which was attended by both teaching and non-teaching staff.
